Trevor and I escaped one morning while my mom watched the kids so we could hike into Gieger Lakes in the Cabinet Mountains. This is one thing I really miss about our pre-kid life and it really felt like an escape. We hit the trail head at 7:30am and stopped at the three lakes as well as braved the peak. Even for August it was very cold at the top and the wind was brutal. Luckly we didn't run into any Grizzly bears, but came across more huckleberries than we could eat. We did a total of 8 miles and it beat dinner and a movie any day.
